Stress is an unpleasant emotion we would all prefer to avoid. And yet it is one of the most common emotions we feel. The trouble is, despite all of the technological advances that are meant to make our lives easier, if anything we feel more stressed.
We could play on online if we wanted, but we can also access our emails on our phones, receive documents everywhere, and travel further and faster. The result is, we can fit more stressful activities into our busy schedules.
How are you supposed to get rid of stress, when you are under a lot of pressure?
The first thing you need to do is take a step back. You can’t see the source of the problem, when you are in the thick of it. You have to separate yourself from your life for a moment and analyze all the factors that are causing you anxiety. With the culprit identified, you are better prepared to handle it.
The first mistake is to attempt to tackle all of the problems at the same time. You need to concentrate on one only. For example, perhaps you are stressed because your boss has given you an impossible deadline. Work out a strategy to fix this problem first. Once you feel confident in your plan, you can move onto the next one.
Other ways to calm down your level of stress is to sit back and think of calming thoughts. Close your eyes and visualize the things that make you the happiest: summer holidays, chocolate, time spent with family, a beautiful view etc. Remember, it is important to have some ‘me’ time every day. Do something you want to do for an hour each day. If you want to catch up on your favorite TV show, do it. If you are a stress chef, get the flour out.
