Anyone who has lived through a hurricane must wonder why these natural disasters do not feature in more movies. Daisy, the narrator of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, tells the story of her life with Benjamin from her deathbed in New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina. Any faithful adaptation of the novel Their Eyes Were Watching God would represent the hurricane that sets the stage for the story’s climactic events.
However, who says that hurricanes should be reserved for character-driven movies? They are a perfect setting for action movies, which are all about excitement and extreme circumstances. Most action movies, from the goofiest to the grittiest, seem to take place under endless sunny skies. Miami and Los Angeles are popular settings for action movies. When they are set in New York or the Midwest, it always seems to be a sunny summer day. Every Floridian or resident of the Gulf Coast knows, however, that nothing quite compares to the fear and danger that comes with hurricanes.
The Hurricane Heist: Melissa Bolona’s New Movie
In February 2018, viewers will finally get their wish of seeing an action movie centered on a hurricane. The movie is about the few people remaining in an evacuated beach town during a hurricane. They must foil a heist on a U.S. Mint facility. The Melissa Bolona IMDb page says that Melissa’s character in the film is named Sasha, but it does not say whether her character is a thief or one of the meteorologists left in town after the evacuation. Early in its development, the movie was called Category 5, but its current title is The Hurricane Heist.
Melissa Bolona Instagram followers will be delighted to see her new film. It will be showing in U.S. theaters in just a few months.
