Aging is a fact of life, and wrinkles, to an extent, are too. Aging gracefully is possible, and it does not always require lasers, surgery or expensive skin care products. Getting enough sleep and how you sleep are factors that can determine the number of wrinkles that may form on your skin and body. If you wake up with a deep line on your chest, for example, there now exists a sleeping bra to prevent wrinkles. Sleeping on your back instead of your side is known to avert deep wrinkles that may form on your face over time.
Here are three more ways you can prevent deep wrinkles from forming on your skin.
Sun Exposure
The more you expose your skin to the sun’s rays, the more damage you will cause to your skin. The sun’s rays breaking down collagen production cause the damage to your skin. Once collage breaks down, your skin loses elasticity and begins to sink. Since staying out of the sun is not 100% possible, when you do venture into the outdoors, there are protective measures you can take. Wearing sunscreen, a hat and pair of sunglasses can limit the negative effects of the sun’s rays on the most susceptible areas of your body including your face, hands and neck.
Eating Well
In many ways, thanks to their natural vitamins and nutrients, foods can help prevent wrinkles. Vitamins A, E and C are known to do help keep skin looking radiant, so it is a wise idea to consume foods rich in them like fruits, vegetables and fish. Foods that are high in antioxidants are believed to counter damage caused to skin by free radicals while food that contains alpha-hydroxy acids contributes to collagen production. Drinking plenty of water helps rid your body of toxins and when food alone is not enough, supplements, like CoQ-10, should be considered.
Avoid Smoking
The smoke created by cigarettes is similar to the pollution floating around you. Since cigarette smoke comes in direct contact with smoker’s lips, that skin stops producing collagen and becomes thinner. This thinner skin then becomes susceptible to wrinkles that are difficult to erase even with treatments.
Wrinkles form because the collagen in your skin starts to deplete. If you would like to prevent excessive wrinkles from forming on your skin, limit sun exposure, eat well and avoid smoking.
