Much attention has been given to world beauty contests – the search for talent and beauty in women. The judges want to know who is the prettiest overall, with the nicest wave, good modelling, talent and charm. In the final stage of judging, the candidate who gives the most intelligent and smart answer bags the crown.
But where does all this beauty consciousness leave us?
Many strive to be or appear beautiful for social acceptance. It is in this search for a beautiful self why beauty products, beauty consultants and beauty clinics make good business. There is a lip augmentation which creates in a woman luscious pouty lips. There is breast augmentation for a full voluptuous effect. Excesses in the body are removed or lessened as in liposuction, butt and thigh firming and other procedures.
Retouching to be beautiful may satisfy a need for social acceptance or a social one. But I still believe in ‘au naturel’. What is natural has its blessings. If you were born with a not-so-pretty look, you could have a talent somewhere. It could be in arts, sports, cooking, singing, playing musical instruments or writing.
Remember, most barren soils have oil – the so called black gold underneath.
