Now that my hectic schedule has cleared up a bit, I can now do some social visits during the weekend.
First in my list of friends to visit is Trisha. It’s been months since we last saw each other and our last phone call was before I went to my Chicago conference. Trisha mentioned that she acquired osteoarthritis (or degenerative arthritis or degenerative joint disease). I can’t fully understand all the medical jargon that she mentioned but all I know is that it’s some kind of an abnormality that involves the joints.
According to Trisha, there are various causes of this disease. It can be hereditary, development, metabolic and mechanical. Right now, she’s undergoing some “lifestyle modification” (as she calls it) to help treat this osteoarthritis. She’s also into a strict diet and exercise regimen because she needs to lose weight. She also uses analgesics to ease the pain. She mentioned that if worse comes to worst, she can undergo a join replacement surgery.
Trisha mentioned that she’s also taking a dietary supplement which is a combination of chondroitin and glucosamine. She’s heard that this combination is a good alternative in treating osteoarthritis – and she’s very optimistic that it will help her recover from this one. She’s already seeing some results and she feels that she’s getting better.
I hope that she gets well and recover from this disease. I do approve of her lifestyle change especially now that I see a slimmer version of her in her Facebook page. I just have to go and meet her to see the change personally – tomorrow.
