My friend, Sheila, has been so busy this Christmas. She has an online store where she sells homemade crafts and she was overwhelmed when her products became a hit because she had lots of orders last Christmas. She even decided to hire three part-time workers to help her complete all her orders in time.
There’s been good feedback on her products so far. If this continues, she’s planning to leave her job and go full-time on this online store selling.
When she mentioned that her only problem is that she’s lacking the financial capital to buy a machine that will make it more efficient and cost-effective to produce her products, I mentioned that she should research on the internet on how to avail of small business grants.
If I remember it right, there are lots of local government and federal agencies (even major corporations) that extend small business grants. Business creates jobs – and that could help a lot in our current economic situation so the government really extends financial help to small business owners. Some websites provide information and resources about small business grants. They can help you find opportunities – and it’s something that my friend, Sheila, needs.
I just hope that in the coming year, Sheila will fulfill her dream to become an entrepreneur and ditch her current job which is not really that stable (she sometimes just works three times a week).
Happy new year everyone!
